IMG_4183Adventure: Something we all dreamed about as children, but most of us lose track of as we grow older. As a freshman at Clemson University, I was approached with the opportunity to travel across the world to learn about sustainability in North Queensland and New Zealand with my fellow Tigers. Little did I know that this trip would become my greatest and most influential adventure to date.

I spent close to four weeks studying alongside students from my university and our partners at East Carolina University, completely engulfed in the Kiwi and Australian cultures. I was submerged into a new way of life; a new theory of partnership between human and nature. Rather than simply abusing the land and its resources, New Zealand and Australia work side by side with their ecosystems to help them flourish. I was able to see first-hand how fragile the earth and its ecosystems are and learn how to reduce human damage on these precious environments.

Though we completed several service-learning projects, I’m sure our group only had a tiny impact on our ecosystems, but the impact that this program had on us is beyond comparison. As the 2015-2016 Tigers Abroad marketing intern at Clemson University  I am excited to share my memories and the lessons I learned. Let’s all go find our adventures!
