Many students choose to explore more of the South Pacific upon completion of their AUIP study abroad programs. For those students who are on a tight budget, there are a number of ways to save a few dollars which will mean more money to spend on traveling! One of the most expensive parts of travel is airfare.

Luckily, there are a variety of airlines offering low-cost deals for travel within Australasia. Outside of the major airlines of Air New Zealand and Qantas, Virgin Australia and JetStar have economical options. Both of these airlines provide affordable deals that could save you quite a bit of money! Virgin Australia even has a flight ‘happy hour’ every day for one hour where they promote their latest sales. It is important to always compare what deals all of these airlines are offering as their fares are always changing.

If you have a connecting flight, you can also save money by booking your tickets independently as airlines do not always show you the connecting flights that provide less than a 45-minute layover. Use this to your advantage to find cheaper fares with various airlines. Just ensure you budget ample time between flights to not miss any of your flights. Most importantly, be flexible when booking your flights, and take advantage of any good deals that you find!
