Some considerations when planning a customized program:
- Setting: would you prefer urban or rural locations, or a mixture of the two?
- Activities: would you like your program to include nature-based activities (hiking, kayaking, for example) or urban-based activities (museums, cultural visits and university visits), or both?
- Weather: what time of year would you like to visit?
- Cost: what is your budget? (Big cities and remote locations tend to be more expensive.)
- Travel: How much do you want to travel? Would you rather see as much as possible in the time you have, or have longer stays in each location?
- Transport: Are you looking for public transportation in cities or trains to reduce your programs carbon footprint or does your home institution require you have mid-sized coaches?
- Guide: Will your program be entirely faculty-led or would you like a specialized guide for part or for the full duration of your program?
- Developed/developing: Would you be comfortable running a program in a developing country?
It has been a real pleasure working with AUIP for the past few years. I most appreciate the focus on truly understanding our program’s educational aims and building an itinerary around those objectives. The level of detail and organization is phenomenal, and our engineering students have engaged in incredibly enriching educational experiences in New Zealand and Australia.

Other destinations
We have researched and developed itineraries for other Pacific islands (such as Rarotonga, Tahiti and Hawaii) and also the Arctic region (Greenland and Iceland). If you have an interest in a location not listed here, please do get in touch to discuss how we might work with you on an itinerary in a South Pacific or Arctic destination of your choice.
Consortium Programs
For our flagship programs, there may be opportunities to work with other partner schools or to join an existing consortium. One benefit of the consortium option is that it allows you to minimize costs and to run a course even with a small number of enrollments.
Talk to us about the programs we are currently running with partnership opportunities.
