AUIP welcomes Sierra Christerson, the Baylor University Bears Abroad Marketing Intern, to the team. She writes:

Hello Baylor Bears!

My name is Sierra Christerson and I will be the Bears Abroad Marketing Intern this year!

If you’re like me, you want to experience all that the world has to offer. To seek new opportunities, thrills, and adventures. To immerse yourself in a culture unknown, learn new things, and return more fulfilled than you were when you left.

Studying abroad has given me the opportunity to do just that.

This summer, I participated in the Baylor in Australia study abroad program. It was the best decision I have made in my college career.

While studying abroad for a month in Queensland, Australia, I bonded with students from Baylor and Texas A&M, received 6 credit hours for environmental science, and spent the entire trip visiting picture perfect places, the kinds you see in the calendars they sell at the mall. This trip was so unique because I was constantly learning new things while in the field. The people I met and places I visited truly impacted me in ways I could have never imagined.

Some highlights from the trip were camping out in the Australian outback, snorkeling and SCUBA-diving the Great Barrier Reef multiple times, and hiking in the World’s oldest rainforest! Oh, and I also got to hold some pretty adorable koalas. Now who can say they have done that on their family vacations?

Studying abroad is such an amazing opportunity to experience the world, learn new things in new places, and make great friends along the way! Don’t forget that college is the BEST time to travel!

I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to intern! I think it is very valuable and influential to get a student’s perspective on studying abroad. I am excited to share my experience with you and answer any questions you may have about Baylor in Australia and the Bears Abroad program!

Don’t forget to look out for upcoming information sessions and study abroad fairs on campus this semester!

Sic ‘em Bears!
