Given that we partner with universities nationwide from the reaches of Hawai’i to New York and everywhere in between, you can imagine our staff jet off to campuses quite often.
In reading a recent USA Today article, we couldn’t help but connect with the headline: “Room with a view makes trip worthwhile.” Whether we’re in San Diego wanting to enjoy the coast or yearning to see the leaves changing colors during fall in Blacksburg, Va., we appreciate views of the outdoors. Truly, when traveling, a scenic panorama from a hotel room helps immensely in relaxation after a long work day.
Eleanor from our team shares a few of her favorite hotels with a view from past travels:
Hilton Waikiki Beach in Honolulu
Thanks to flight schedules, it’s almost inevitable to incur an overnight stay in Honolulu en route to the University of Hawai’i-Hilo on the Big Island. However, that overnight affords me the chance to stay at the Hilton Waikiki Beach situated in the heart of Honolulu. With views to the famous Duke Statue and east toward Diamond Head, I can’t say that an afternoon of emails on my Mac is such a miserable thing!
Westin Bayshore in Vancouver
While attending the NAFSA annual conference this past May in Vancouver, I couldn’t believe my luck in securing a discounted conference room rate for the waterfront Westin Bayshore. Situated right on Coal Harbour, the Westin offers views of Stanley Park, the mountains and incoming landing seaplanes. My favorite view was of the seaplanes flying just outside my balcony, sweeping in low for their water landing.
Crowne Plaza in Auckland
Passing through Auckland back in September with co-worker Sara couldn’t have been more of a blast. Our room at the Crowne Plaza Auckland provided a direct view of the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is to Auckland what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, so having an unobstructed view of this iconic tower was simply amazing.
