We at AUIP are always on the lookout for interesting blogs and last week we came across the New Zealand’s Department of Conservation’s (DOC) Blog.

For those of you who have not been to New Zealand, DOC is a state sector organization which deals with the conservation of New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage.

The blog has a number of categories that were of interest to us at AUIP and we thought they would also be of interest to Alumni from our New Zealand program, those who are looking at signing up for our New Zealand program and even those with just a general interest in conservation.

DOC update their blog on a regular basis with news on their projects, information on species  they are protecting as well as competitions and anecdotes involving living out in back country huts.

They recently held a competition to go into a draw to win the chance for one child to become a mini DOC Ranger. All they had to do was answer the question, ‘What do you love about New Zealand?’ The winner was Louis from Christchurch. Check out this video on why he loves NZ: http://blog.doc.govt.nz/
