What’s one of the biggest pains of traveling under the age of 25? You guessed it, the under 25 age differential fee charged by car rental companies.
Sure you can fly many places but once you’re there, taking public transportation and taxis aren’t always sufficient, and a rental car becomes necessary. Eleanor, pictured right with a rental in Australia, and Lee rent countless cars each year in their travels to our partner universities.
Most car rental companies charge an age differential fee for drivers aged 21 to 24. (And if you’re under 21, then you can just about forget the chance of renting a car!) The majority of our students are younger than 25, which means they fall exactly in this category.
Curious what you’ll shell out for the differential fee? Noting every location can charge its own fee, here’s a breakdown we’ve found of the usual age differential fee per day by company:
Alamo: $25
Budget: $27
Dollar: $25
Enterprise: $10
Hertz: $15
Thrifty: $25
Well, we’re sharing a special code with you to avoid the charge when renting with Hertz. Young drivers aged 21 to 24 can hit the road with no young renter fee for a savings of up to $25 a day, depending on car class, when you make your reservation with PC# 148293 on or before September 30, 2010.
Happy car renting!
