One of the most frequent remarks students give at the end of a program is that they wish they had packed less. No one enjoys hauling around more luggage than necessary. And truthfully, on our programs you don’t need much.

An ideal way to cut your luggage’s size is to limit and pack reusable clothing. We suggest packing clothing that you can mix and match and wear for multiple purposes.

For example, try to pack solid colors and lots of interchangeable tops and bottoms to create multiple combinations. Stray from clothing with only one intended purpose…well, except for the rain jacket!

Limiting yourself to the basics will give you more mobility and less responsibility to keep up with items. Don’t pack all the items you could potentially need. Just pack the items you will need, which are outlined in the Student Handbook’s packing list. Most likely you won’t miss what you leave behind. And if you do, then you can buy those items in-country.

Alumni: Post comments on suggestions for packing light or why you’d recommend doing so.
