A major concern for students and students’ parents about studying abroad is health and safety. Thus understandably, when a student becomes sick on a program, they’re usually nervous about the healthcare available.
Our programs study in relatively developed area and all within easy access to emergency care. However, when you’re traveling alone or in an underdeveloped country, finding doctors and hospitals can be quite the challenge.
Dr. Bill Borrie from the University of Montana recently tipped us off to an iPhone app from HTH Worldwide called mPassport, which provides medical information for foreign destinations.
Whether you need dental care or an emergency surgery, the application offers a wealth of data. mPassport currently does not have destination-specific guides for the South Pacific. However guides for cities in South America, Asia, Europe and elsewhere are now available for varied download prices.
The service is also offered on other mobile devices in a subscription format.
