Robert Smith, the Wolfpack Abroad marketing intern, writes:

The study abroad experience I had in the South Island of New Zealand was incredible. Everything from the landscapes to the local people really made it the trip of a lifetime. One thing that made the whole trip memorable was the people that studied alongside me. We shared the same adventure and became the best of friends by the end of the program.

Now that I have been given the opportunity to be the Wolfpack Abroad Marketing Intern at North Carolina State University, my task is to share how life altering and academically beneficial it is to study abroad in the South Pacific. Not only will I provide my stories and knowledge with my peers, but also I will encourage them to travel and learn about sustainability in a world that has a demand for sustainable practices.

Robert at Mount Cook on New Zealand’s South Island

About me: I am a senior at North Carolina State University. My major is Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management with a concentration in commercial tourism management. Newton, North Carolina is where I was raised. Being outdoors is always a pleasure for me, so I enjoy hiking and kayaking. I also like to play mandolin, and I am a proud Disney Pixar nerd who loves all of their films. When it comes to the tourism business, adventure and eco-tourism interest me the most.

Having the dream of traveling to New Zealand and studying abroad become a reality is wonderful. Now I am excited to encourage the Wolfpack at North Carolina State University to travel the South Pacific, and in doing so make memories that impact them for the rest of their lives.
