Visitors to Australia always seem to comment on how happy the residents of the country tend to be. Well, it’s not just a perception any more. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has announced that Australians are truly the happiest people in the world.

The OECD’s latest Better Life Initiative index ranked Australia the happiest based on a variety of “good life” factors. Three-fourths of polled Australians were satisfied with their lies and about 85 percent said they were in good health.

The next nine happiest countries were: Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark, the U.S., Switzerland, Finland and the Netherlands. Not too bad that two of our destinations rank in the top ten in the world!

These Ohio State students on our North Queensland program sure do look happy to be in Australia!
