If the news from Libya hasn’t been dominating your TV, then you’ve probably been watching the massive destruction and subsequent recovery efforts in Christchurch this week.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch on Tuesday at 12:51 p.m. local time (Monday evening in the U.S.). The earthquake was centered at Lyttelton, roughly 10 kilometers southeast of Christchurch’s city center, at a depth of 5 kilometers.

The good news is that all AUIP staff members are safe and unharmed after the earthquake. However, the city as a whole has suffered serious damages and deaths. Sadly, the death toll reached 123 people just a bit ago and is expected to rise.  Read the full rescue update here.

We also appreciate your concerns and continued thoughts for our team in Christchurch and the people of the Garden City.
