Amanda Wilson, Hokies Abroad marketing intern, writes:
These three photos were taken off the side of the road during my farm stay in the Atherton Tablelands of Queensland, Australia. I was in the car with Hanz, a German native that had been working a hobby farm in Australia for the past 20 years, two faculty leaders and Celine Dion playing on a cassette player.
The sun was casting an ethereal glow on the hillside and the grasses were gracefully swaying in the breeze; naturally we had to pull over to capture the moment. While we sat there snapping photos, I became amazed at how this beautiful agricultural vista reminded me so much of my home in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Everything including the rolling green hills, the grazing cows, the cool breeze and the radiant sunset felt like Blacksburg. In the middle of the program in an array of exotic landscapes on the other side of the Earth, I was so thankful for the opportunity to recharge in the Tablelands in a place that instantly felt like home.
