Alyse in the Hooker Valley

Hello friends! My name is Alyse Horn and I’m representing myself for Pennsylvania State University as the AUIP/Lions Abroad Marketing Intern. I am thrilled to have been chosen as the student to represent these wonderful programs.

I am going into my senior year at Penn State and am majoring in print journalism. The program that I last participated in with AUIP was the New Zealand course on the South Island in May.

What first inspired me to travel with AUIP was the solid fact that they were going to New Zealand. The country is a place I had always dreamed about visiting and when I was given the chance to travel there I jumped on it.

During my exploration of New Zealand with AUIP/Lions Abroad as my guide, I underwent life-changing experiences that I never thought possible. While not only learning about the unique wildlife found on the South Island, I also studied the government, history and issues dealing with sustainability that New Zealand faces. I completely submerged myself into the country, learning more information than I ever would have traveling on my own.

Since I’ve returned from New Zealand, I have already convinced two friends who are engaged to spend their honeymoon in the South Island. I am ecstatic for the opportunity to recruit fellow Lions into studying abroad with AUIP and Lions Abroad because through this program the opportunities are endless.
