Brisbane City YHA is a supplier that provides accommodation for AUIP students spending time in Brisbane during our South Queensland program. Brisbane City YHA shares with us some information about Queensland, Brisbane and their facilities:

Brisbane is fast becoming the ultimate first stop destination in Australia for students and backpackers. The commencement of direct flights between Brisbane and Dallas by QANTAS on the May 16, 2011 will give unprecedented access to Queensland for U.S. travelers.

Queensland boasts the best natural wonders in Australia with many World Heritage-listed locations including the Daintree Rainforest and one of the World’s Seven Natural Wonders, the Great Barrier Reef.

Backpackers and students frequent Queensland with its fantastic weather year round from Brisbane and the Gold Coast in the south to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef in the north. YHA Australia has a network of 16 hostels all over Queensland and over 120 Australia wide.

Brisbane City YHA underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment in 2008-2009 and has consequently won ‘Best New Tourism Development’ in 2009, and ‘Best Backpackers’ in 2010 at the Queensland Tourism Awards.

The hostel (entrance shown to the right) boasts five secure floors of key card accessible accommodation, including a designated group floor with conference facilities for up to 80 people. Other luxuries include a new stainless steel kitchen, TV/Games room, a fully functioning travel desk and in-room Wi-Fi. In addition to these amenities is a rooftop pool and deck which overlooks the city skyline  and Brisbane River, giving the most spectacular day and night views of the city, as can be seen by the photo to the left.

Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city and home to over two million people. The city is a vibrant metropolis with a wide-ranging music and cultural event calendar. Visitors can choose to dine and relax in SouthBank on the riverfront or enjoy the many of Brisbane’s street shopping precincts. Brisbane is the ideal location for exploring Queensland’s countryside to the west, the famous beaches of the Gold Coast to the south or starting an epic journey over 1,500 kilometres north to Cairns and visiting the Great Barrier Reef.

YHA Australia is part of the world’s largest backpacker accommodation network, Hostelling International (HI), which provides more than 35 million overnight stays per year through 4,000 hostels in over 80 countries. Brisbane City YHA offers multi-share, twin, double and family rooms with rates starting from $27.50 per night for HI members.
