AUIP Director of Academic Affairs, Lee Stoner, was recently taken to Queenstown for the weekend by his fiancé Krysina. Queenstown, surrounded by the beautiful Remarkables mountain range, was listed as the #4 top destination in the world by Trip Advisor in 2010. Lee was joined by fellow AUIP colleague, Eleanor Hand, the AUIP marine biologist for the North Queensland program, Tyrone Ridgeway, as well as friends Caitlin, Ben and Lee P.

During the day of Lee’s birthday, July 31, the majority of the group visited wineries, including the magnificently situated Mt. Difficulty. Eleanor and Caitlin went for the more exciting option, opting to ski Coronet Peak. The evening meal was held at Prime Resturant and Bar. Prime is set next to Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand’s longest lake at 80 kilometers, and according to Lee, serves “one of the best stakes I have ever tasted.”

Last but not least, no trip to Queenstown is complete without a trip to Fergurger, pictured left. Lee does not typically eat burgers – or any red meat for that matter. However, you will be hard pressed to find a Queenstown tourist that does not rave about this burger. Not surprisingly, the group made two visits!

So, is a trip to Queenstown complete without a visit to Fergburger? Let us know in the comments.
