Social and Cultural Explorations in the Visual Arts: Sydney, Australia

This course will introduce students to cultural representations and social issues expressed in art, encourage them to explore ideas, question answers, and think differently about their personal encounters with art.  Students will be introduced to Sydney’s history, culture, and persisting social issues as expressed through public art, community activism, and exhibits at Sydney’s best museums.  Course activities include painting and drawing workshops with local artists, touring museums and galleries, exploring graffiti and street art, and a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Space is limited to 20 students.

Credits: 3 credits, embedded spring program

Cost: 2017-18 program cost was $3,200.00
