New Zealand and Australia – Sustainable Tourism and the Environment

This three and a half week experiential program uses the theme of sustainable development to explore the relationship between people and their natural environment. Beginning in New Zealand’s North Island, the program incorporates important cultural elements, comparing Maori (New Zealand’s indigenous people) sustainability efforts with non-Maori conservation projects. The group then flies to Australia’s North Queensland which boasts some of the most diverse and remarkable natural resources in the southern hemisphere. Known as the Sunshine State, Queensland is home to lush rain forests, outback scrub and desert, and the spectacular marine diversity of the Great Barrier Reef.
