As a freshman at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemson.edu\/\">Clemson University<\/a>, I was approached with the opportunity to travel across the world to learn about sustainability in <a href=\"http:\/\/auip.com\/programs\/new-zealand-australia\/sustainability\/\">North Queensland and New Zealand<\/a> with my fellow Tigers. Little did I know that this trip would become my greatest and most influential adventure to date.<\/p>\n<p>I spent close to four weeks studying alongside students from my university and our partners at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecu.edu\/\">East Carolina University<\/a>, completely engulfed in the Kiwi and Australian cultures. I was submerged into a new way of life; a new theory of partnership between human and nature. Rather than simply abusing the land and its\u00a0resources, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newzealand.com\/\">New Zealand<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australia.com\/en-gb\">Australia<\/a> work side by side with their ecosystems to help them flourish. I was able to see first-hand how fragile the earth and its ecosystems are and learn how to reduce human damage on these precious environments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auip.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_4410.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4144 size-medium alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/auip.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_4410-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4410\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/auip.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_4410-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/auip.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_4410-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/auip.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_4410.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though we completed several service-learning projects, I\u2019m sure our group only had a tiny impact on our ecosystems, but the impact that this program had on us is beyond comparison. As the 2015-2016<a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemson.edu\/studyabroad\/\"> Tigers Abroad<\/a> marketing intern at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemson.edu\"> Clemson University<\/a> \u00a0I am excited to share my memories and the lessons I learned.
