Well, today I am in Brisbane currently exhausted due to the fact I have been on a plane for over 24 hours, arrived in Australia, then you know, just played with some koalas and kangaroos. Through all the sleepy eyes and yawns, it has been completely worth it! This city, better yet country, is breathtaking! Not to mention the accents of the individuals here are striking. We’ve been leaving an impression of our own, as well. Apparently it is very easy for the locals to tell that we are from America and from the South!<\/p>\n

Brisbane<\/a> is more than I expected. It’s so modern and fun! There are shops everywhere, the latest technology, intriguing buildings, and not to mention, it\u2019s extremely clean! Litter is not an issue here; it’s certainly very well maintained! I wish the USA could improve on that aspect of our urban areas.<\/p>\n

Outside the city, we saw small farms and suburbs that remind me a lot of home. I’m actually surprised how much this country is like home. It takes me back, but then all of the sudden, I’m swept back into a whole new experience (such as Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary<\/a>, which we visited today; see the pictures) and instantly reminded where I am and why I’m here.<\/p>\n

The youth hostel we are staying in is also very nice. It\u2019s similar to a dorm room, but that’s a good thing because I’m already bonding with a lot of the other girls. It\u2019s only day one, and I\u2019m already having an awesome time and cannot wait to tell you more!<\/p>\n
