Jean Vergara, a cheery and comical individual, joined the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.auip.com\">AUIP<\/a> Fiji team to accompany our groups.<\/p>\n<p>Jean\u00a0earned her M.S. degree in Education, specializing in Counseling and Guidance, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.callutheran.edu\/\">California Lutheran University<\/a>. She attended <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stanford.edu\/\">Stanford University<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fullerton.edu\/\">California State University, Fullerton<\/a> during her undergraduate studies and obtained a B.A. degree in Communications-Advertising and Radio-TV-Film.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2930\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/auip.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/05\/jean-with-kangaroo.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2930\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2930\" alt=\"Jean feeding a kangaroo in Australia\" src=\"http:\/\/auip.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/05\/jean-with-kangaroo.jpg?w=300\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2930\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jean feeding a kangaroo in Australia<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jean has worked within the many levels of education in both private and public school districts. Jean\u2019s passion to travel and mentor led her to England where she worked as a counselor\/teacher&#8217;s assistant at <a href=\"england.tasis.com\/%E2%80%8E\">TASIS, The American School in England<\/a>. In addition, she has spent past summers working for an international language immersion school at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pepperdine.edu\/\">Pepperdine University<\/a> as both a summer counselor and later as the Academic Director. Previously, Jean has served as a faculty advisor for the\u00a0<i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nylf.org\/med\/\">National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in Los Angeles as well as the\u00a0<i><a href=\"http:\/\/cylc.org\/nylsc\/\">National Young Leaders State Conference<\/a><\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nylf.org\/programs.cfm\">National Youth Leadership Forum on Collegiate Success<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>So you can get to know her a bit, Jean provided us with these 10 fun facts about herself:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Avid traveler (5 continents and 41 U.S. States so far!)<\/li>\n<li>Certified Scuba Diver<\/li>\n<li>Loves\u2026loves\u2026loves karaoke<\/li>\n<li>Grew up on the island of Guam<\/li>\n<li>Was in a national commercial about free credit reports online<\/li>\n<li>Plays the harmonica<\/li>\n<li>Has worked in education for eight years- both Stateside and overseas<\/li>\n<li>Loves to dance<\/li>\n<li>Does not like okra<\/li>\n<li>Is always smiling<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We know Jean will be a strong asset to our Fiji programs this summer, and we look forward to all of our faculty and students meeting her in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new face will be greeting our Fiji groups at the Nadi airport this summer.
