Six Americans (mainly ex-pats), ten Kiwis, an Argentine and even one <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alternative_names_for_the_British\">Pom<\/a> all joined in the festive spirit to celebrate.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2812\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/auip.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/04\/news-brief-auip-celebrated-thanksgiving-with-ex-pats-and-kiwis-in-attendance\/carved-turkey\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2812\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2812\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2812\" alt=\"One of our Thanksgiving turkeys carved and ready for eating\" src=\"http:\/\/auip.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/carved-turkey.jpg?w=300\" height=\"225\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2812\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of our Thanksgiving turkeys carved and ready for eating<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In true Thanksgiving fashion, each individual or couple brought a dish to share. The usual suspects of cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and salads all arrived. Three pies also held a place in the food array: pumpkin, pecan and strawberry rhubarb. Impressively, one staffer even planned ahead and bought pumpkin puree in the States earlier this year so as to avoid the <a href=\"http:\/\/auip.wordpress.com\/2011\/11\/30\/news-brief-staff-celebrates-thanksgiving-down-under\/\">$15 puree purchased last year Down Under<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After devouring two turkeys, a ham and too many side dishes, everyone found a comfy spot in the lounge room to chat away the afternoon. Amazingly, we even found the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/ncaaf\/big12\/2012\/11\/22\/tcu-horned-frogs-texas-longhorns\/1721903\/\">Texas versus TCU Thanksgiving game <\/a>on satellite television, not that any Kiwis were substantially interested in watching.<\/p>\n<p>We hope your Thanksgiving proved equally as enjoyable.
