Although European cities dominated the top 25 cities in the index, the South Pacific saw high rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Listed in the top 50 cities were Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Canberra and Adelaide in Australia and Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>All of these cities also made the top 50 eco-city ranking, which is based on water availability, water potability, waste removal, quality of sewage systems, air pollution and traffic congestion.<\/p>\n<p>Pictured right, the Kurilpa Bridge in Brisbane is the city\u2019s newest pedestrian and cyclist-only bridge crossing the Brisbane River. Pedestrian and cyclist pathways increase the livability of a city.
