By instilling an environmental conservation mentality in young children, the Park hopes to foster a mindset toward protecting endangered lands and animals in the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/auip.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/kula-eco-park.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-147\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/auip.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/kula-eco-park.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Kula guides showed our students through the park\u2019s various enclosures and described characteristics of each species. Any visitors to Kula can walk through these areas though, but our group also received a behind-the-scenes look at the breeding area and the salt-water marine filtration system.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and don\u2019t forget the up close and personal holding of critters. The <a href=\"http:\/\/studyabroad.wfu.edu\/index.cfm?FuseAction=programs.ViewProgram&amp;Program_ID=1560&amp;Type=O&amp;sType=O\">Wake Forest<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cfc.umt.edu\/studyabroad\/\">University of Montana<\/a> students, pictured left with lead professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfu.edu\/biology\/faculty\/brownera.htm\">Dr. Robert Browne<\/a>, held banded iguanas, a crested iguana and a Pacific boa.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, a Pacific boa\u2026a young one but a boa nonetheless!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the Coral Coast of Fiji, our program stops at Kula Eco Park to observe endangered species of Fiji and learn about necessary breeding methods to restore dwindling population numbers.
