Tania de Hoon

Biography Tania de Hoon has managed tourism ventures in New Zealand and Fiji for over 20 years, with more than 14 years experience in marine and eco-tourism in Fiji. She was born in New Zealand, and worked as a chef and hotel manager before migrating to Fiji in 1994 to start her own SCUBA diving operation on the island of Taveuni. While living on Taveuni, Tania worked with Bouma National Park on implementing several aspects of the locally managed eco-tourism venture. After 10 years on Taveuni she moved to the second largest Fijian island, Vanua Levu, to be the operations manager of the Adventure Cruise Ship, Tui Tai. She currently manages Ika Levu sports fishing charter out of Savusavu. She also founded and presided over the Taveuni Rotary Club, and is currently an active member of the Savusavu Rotary Club. In this capacity she has managed many community service projects including health clinics, vocational learning projects, and school library services. Tania brings practical tourism and organizational experience to the programme, as well as a world of experience living and working within grass-roots Fijian communities.
